Philosophy
At Little Guys Early Learning Centre we believe every child should be treated and respected holistically. Our approach to education for our tamariki is founded on the principals, strands, and goals laid out in Te Whāriki in our Early Childhood Curriculum.

We foster an emergent curriculum which tamariki develop play and social skills to help them become competent and confident learners. We acknowledge children’s play through wholesome learning experiences, and the importance of spontaneous play is recognised for tamariki to gain confidence in themselves.
Children’s health will be promoted, and their emotional well-being nurtured through relationships, interactions that are responsive, reciprocal, positive and encouraging. We believe that healthy kai promotes healthy children and provide a menu that is wholesome with a variety of foods that tempt all taste buds.
Little Guys are active members of the rural Karaka community. Our tamariki will experience an outdoor environment that enhances their learning through regular farm walks and picnics on the farm. We believe this promotes wholesome learning and we see no weather as bad weather. Little Guys promote sustainability through our learning programme, the products we use and the care we take for our environment.
We value the dual heritage in Aotearoa New Zealand in accordance with the Te Tiriti o Waitangi, encouraging the participation of Māori learners and working in partnership with Maori as Tangata Whenūa. Our daily programme embraces all cultures within Aotearoa and these are respected and naturally woven through routines, language, music, art and stories.
We strongly believe that parent-teacher collaboration is key for a successful education experience. We have an open door policy where parents and whānau are encouraged and welcome.
